Me taking a picture of me, taking a picture!

It all started way back when...

….dinosaurs roamed the Earth! Of course I’m joking, but seriously, rather than say how many years I have been taking pictures for let me give you an idea. It was at high school, we were lucky enough to have a brilliant photography teacher and a fully equipped darkroom. I’ve loved photography my whole life! From memory, my first photography class was in Year 9 were I first started taking astrophotos with a loan camera in the 90's (Pentax K1000). Also learnt darkroom techniques at high school and have had photography as a hobby ever since. I studied photography again at GV TAFE, which comprised of more darkroom work and visual assignments.

Then digital cameras came along! I First started shooting with digital (DSLRs) equipment pretty much as soon as it became a thing - purchasing my first DSLR over 20 years ago. Working in advertising for a publishing company and national magazine I have many years experience photographing a wide variety of subjects, locations and occasions, taking advertising shots for various customers. I also worked for Sky & Space Magazine as an Events Editor, which was mainly photojournalism.

During my Post-Graduate Studies at University, I worked as a research assistant/photographer on a project at Port Campbell National Park for the CRC for Sustainable Tourism in conjunction with Parks Victoria.
Now living in Tasmania, I have been inspired by Aurora and have recently upgraded all my gear - my wife and I also run a holiday home management company so I have the opportunity to get into paid real estate work.

I did my Professional Accreditation with the AIPP -Australian Institute of Professional Photographers, just before it closed, and I was also a member of the Australian Photographic Society.

In my spare time I love doing time lapse photography, fine art printing and videography - living in Tasmania, how can you not!!!

AirBnB, Expedia, Booking.com, Agoda, etc etc all require nice clean shots so owners can promote their properties to the masses - My wife and I have extensive experience setting up OTA listings for many owners throughout Australia. As a freelance photographer, I am flexible and hardworking - knowing what works and what doesn't work is key here, where I stand out is not only being able to capture the right images, but also being able to advise which OTAs to use, and also the ability to upload, manage and maintain the listings. Something most photographers would not offer. We own and operate Retreats Tasmania & Retreats Victoria.

Fast turn around - professional - reliable.
